studio tord boontje
Another one of my favourite designers! I stumbled across this designer in a small pop up exhibition in Covent Garden (London) about 4 years ago. I couldn't stop talking about him, so my boss brought me his book...its is the most detailed, delicate book i have ever seen. A piece of art in its own right...He designs everything from chair to tattoos..
Tord Boontje was born in Enschede, Netherlands in 1968. He first studied industrial design at the Design Academy in Eindhoven (1986 - 1991), and followed this with a Masters from the Royal College of Art in London (1992 - 1994). Studio Tord Boontje was founded in 1996. Tord Boontje lived and worked in London from 1995 to 2005, when he moved his home and studio to Bourg-Argental, France. In 2009 he took up his appointment as Professor and Head of Design Products at the Royal College of Art, and continues work at his London-based design studio. http://tordboontje.com/

My amazing friend Carly's new exhibition 'The Underscore'
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to my amazing friend and photographer Carly Whouley.
Carly Whouley obtained a Bachelor of Film and Television Production from Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art in 2002.
"Our landscape is grand and beautiful and saturated with enough textbook aesthetics to make any fanny pack-wearing tourist wee their cargo pants. Alas, so much goes unnoticed - the diminutive, modest, concealed quarters that form the underscore to this magnificently large-scale production. This is the Cairns that my grandparents, parents, siblings, friends and I know so well."
The Underscore is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day, the major day of global recognition for the economic, political and social achievements of women.
If you would like to purchase and of the photos below please email Carly on carly.whouley@gmail.com
All of the photos below are taken in and around Cairns.
Carly has her first exhibition opening this Friday in Cairns and I cant wait!
Below is a brief introduction to the artist and a explanation of the up and coming exhibition.

London Calling
So last week I wrote about Marcel and how wonderful he is...well i completely forgot about Thomas Heatherwick! I have loved this guys work for so long. The Heatherwick studio was established in 1994 and is still going strong today. His studio designs everything from furniture to buildings which all have a distinctive style and ingenuity. Team members also have varied backgrounds and skills that help with the diversity of the practise. Wouldn't it be marvellous to have such a skill and talent-we can only dream
