Marcel Wander = GENIUS

Maybe genius is a bit strong, but you have to admit he is pretty darn good at what he does! When I was studying at design school Phillipe Stark was by far my favourite designer and inventor, then I discovered Dieter Rams...the list could go on forever....

But for now Marcel is my idol...he's completely out there, quirky, inspirational and lets face it anyone that has worked for Droog studio is bound to be AWESOME in my eyes...Here are a few examples of his products and interiors

drawn from fashion and leeloo

Drawn from Fashion is an exhibition celebrating Australian fashion designers alongside emerging Australian artists.
The exhibition will be curated by Leeloo’s Angela D’Alton and Renee Baker and will run in conjunction with L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) using images taken by Lucas Dawson of previous LMFF runway events. Each of the 16 selected artists will have the task of creating original works using methods based in fashion illustration, traditional fine art and graphic design.
Featured artists include: Bec Winnel, Lauren Carney, Jessica Singh and Pligrim Lee. The artworks will be on display (and up for sale) at Finders Keepers markets on Saturday 26 March and Sunday 27 March 2011.
For more information, head to drawnfromfashion.com.au.

Also I am now stocking the shelves at Leeloo, so pop over and have a look at their website...its full of handmade goodies! http://www.leeloo.com.au/

Young Republic

There will be a new website supporting Australian designers coming out in March! Im involved and you should be too! Here is what they have to say....

A breakthrough website for emerging Australian designers will soon usher in tremendous growth for local design businesses. The first of its kind to hit Australian shores, Young Republic will showcase original designs from emerging Australian fashion, jewellery and homeware designers when it launches in March.
Never before has an online marketplace been targeted specifically to the Australian design industry, with counterparts Etsy and Us Trendy catered towards US demographics. Local designers will be able to take advantage of Young Republic’s push to the Australian mainstream retail markets, encouraging growth and recognition in their home country.
Apart from having no setup or listing fees, Young Republic will also provide additional opportunities to build brands and entrepreneurial skills with a team of industry experts, a feature other online marketplaces have failed to provide.
Registrations are now open for emerging designers interested in becoming a part of Young Republic. Visit
www.youngrepublic.com.au for more information.

house of chintz

I stumbled across 'Houose of Chintz' yesterday when looking around etsy....they are just stunning pieces.
below is a quick bio on the designer

House of Chintz is the design label of me Kate Boyce. I was born in Staffordshire and now live and work in Hebden Bridge West Yorkshire. I studied Surface Pattern at Staffordshire University then spent several years designing fabric and giftware for industry.
Then came a change - I moved to the country, got married and had two lovely daughters. I could never give up working but wanted to move away from stringent briefs and ‘chintzy’ floral designs and so motivated by my surroundings I began instead creating and selling mixed-media paintings on canvas. This venture thankfully proved successful for me and I was able to work at home whist bringing up my daughters.
